Making the Most of An Almost Post

Saturday, October 17, 2015

Clearly I have had a boatload of fun this week because I am now sitting here scratching my head wondering where on earth the whole thing went. How can it possibly be Saturday? Yeesh. Shadow colicked on Tuesday afternoon (defined here for my non-horsey friends), and the week kind of went downhill from there. I was, however, extremely blessed to have had Kimby with me when I found our poor boy laid out by the water trough. Not everyone in your life would be overly keen on helping you push shove drag lug lead (a reluctant 1,100lb drama queen 'round and 'round the pasture for hours on end waiting for him to "go". She was a tremendous help in nudging him forward; all while keeping an eagle eye out for signs of impending poop from inside the danger zone (to the uninitiated: horse toots are toxic ;o) Brave girl.
Long story short: The colic turned out to be the byproduct of an abcess in Shadow's throat that had left him unable to properly swallow. He probably swallowed either a small stick or large, stiff piece of hay which scratched his throat. The inability to swallow properly likely caused him to panic, which led to the colic. DH gave him a shot of Banamine (which I hate using) for pain, and I put some DMSO on the abscess I'd [eventually] found in his throat latch. We left him resting fairly comfortably around 11p.m. He seemed to be feeling a bit better Wednesday morning, and a couple of hours after a second application of DMSO he was [finally!] able to swallow properly on his own. Of course all that stumbling around in the pasture half the night (for an early bird like me, anyway ;o) was apparently all it took for me to come down with a lovely sinus infection. half of Thursday was, most unhappily, spent at the doctor's office. And raspberries to that! :oP
[Photo inset: Shadow and I in shadow (hee) standing by the almost pond bright and early on Wednesday morning. We look weird, don't we?]

Since the post I had originally planned for today did not get written, I'm leaving you here (so to speak, anyway ;o) with an almost [finished] page of my joy journal. Everyone is blessed with gifts and talents from God (1Peter4:10 on the left side of the journal page), for her - or his - own. What's funny is that we don't tend to see and appreciate those things in ourselves; we often seem to focus on someone else's gift that we wish we had instead. To me? The neatest part is the way God often puts people in our lives who share our interests yet come with their own special set of gifts to help round us out better. Example: My friend Lori is gifted with the most marvelous outgoing and friendly nature - something I definitely wish I had. Friendly? Yes, mostly, though I tend toward reserved. Outgoing? Not at all. I am a terrible introvert (though sometimes I hide it well). I have a really hard time walking up to someone I don't know (like new people at church) and introducing myself, so God gave me Lori (though I'm betting this is all news to her *laugh*). All I have to do is follow her around on a given Sunday, and I wind up meeting everyone I don't know "safely". Betcha didn't even know you were being a blessing in that particular direction, did you chickie? :o)
Likewise, Kimby, who is gifted with that wonderful peace I know I've mentioned before. The kind of peace that puts you at immediate ease and always makes you feel like everything will be all right. The perfect complement to my tends to panic spaz-queen self. She also seem to always know just the right thing to say, too (the heifer); and for someone who is constantly eating her own foot, I'm telling you straight up that is a GIFT and then some! And quit rolling your eyes at me too, sistafriend. Heh Heh Heh. Sandy, with her warm fuzzy heart for critters and crazy sense of humor has an altogether different set of blessings that complete our friendship and brighten my day. There are, of course, many others. All of these remarkable people that the Lord has put in my life. What would I do without them? But I digress...
[Photo inset: My almost finished journal page borrowing some of Joanne Fink's Zenspiration with some scripture verses "dangling" down the left-hand side]

Since I'm obviously headed for "short story long" here, *snicker* I'll add that this journal page is about the things that I have a love and/or propensity for and what I'm supposed to be doing with them. A reminder to self, if you will. The right side of the page looks like a scarf, which is something I have been known to crochet. Speaking of... Do you like the yarn ball "o" and hook "t"? I was pretty excited when I saw that the idea actually worked and you can [mostly] tell what they are. The word Art is only partially visible, and horses is right above that. What? You were expecting something else to top the list? (well silly you ;o) They're not necessarily in order of preference, but more how they fit best in the space. Everything gets done in pencil first, then it's made permanent with Staedtler pens. My hand-lettering still needs lots more practice. I haven't decided whether or not to add color to it yet - the scarf, perhaps? Or maybe I should just leave this page in black and white. What do you think?

Have a blessed week everyone, and thanks so much for reading this far!

Beyond Blessed and Scared to Death

Saturday, June 20, 2015

**This one might be a coffee and TWO donut post (oy)**

After last week's positive post (here), I guess that title may sound rather odd, but not to me. I feel almost like I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop. You know the one I mean. I'm talking about the ten pound steel-toed boot; the one suspended over your head that inevitably drops and beans you a good one on the noggin because you've migrated to LaLaLa Land and weren't paying attention (who, me??). After so many years of struggling so hard with so many things (horrible health, horsekeeping, housekeeping, shoot - just existing, yadda yadda), it is making me positively twitchy that things are going well (though I am genuinely thankful - particularly for the amazing people God has put into my life - which is the point of this post). How silly am I to sit here and worry about it, I ask you? Maybe not so much, when you consider that I just know I will somehow manage to mess it all up. I suffer from self-inflicted stupidity on regular basis. Not to mention being a champion pick-it-apart-er (er). Maybe it's just me, but lately I've been thinking how important it is to simply acknowledge the people in your life; does that make sense? Don't we all have that need? To be acknowledged? To know that what we think or say or do matters to someone? Even here, in the bloggosphere. It's why I asked Carrie to add that silly little sun for comments, and why I try to always respond to them. After all, you took the time to leave one, right? Shouldn't I respond in kind, by letting you know how much I appreciate it? At least that way you know I read what you wrote, right? Of course if I suddenly find myself flooded with hundreds I may have to revisit this topic. HaHa. Maybe acknowledgements can be made enmasse then, eh? Okay, delusions of grandeur aside...

I also struggle with what it is [exactly] the Lord wants me to do about things, and all too often go haring off in the wrong direction. This generally garners me what I call the DHT: Divine Head Thump. (I can hear you laughing from here, Lori ;o) Yep, I earn them all the time. Sad, but true. Sometimes I think I'm the slowest learner on the planet. Gotta be somebody all the way down at the very bottom of that list, right? *sigh* One of my most frequently uttered [and most fervent] prayers is, "Tell me what you want me to do about this Lord. PLEASE make it really, really clear - idiot friendly even - but don't hurt me though, 'kay?"  [above photo inset: A piece of "sackcloth" covered in Scripture (hand written, obviously) and given to me a few years ago by my friend Lori - when things in my life got "move over Job" bad - I laughed 'til I cried, then laughed some more. Only you would think to do such a thing for me - I love you Lori!]

One of the things I've really missed is having a horse crazy friend nearby. Sandy moved away long before the horses came (the heifer), though I visit her when I can, and Lori lives almost an hour away in another state (though I do see her every week at church, but that isn't the same thing at all). Please don't misunderstand me here; I have been incredibly blessed in my life with some truly wonderful friendships (my picture happy galpal Sarah being another recent blessing there). As friends go, I am a very rich woman. What I'm talking about is a local, horse crazy friend; one I could hang out with on a regular basis (sans road trip). One I can carry on important conversations with; the kind where every third word is "horse". I'd been praying away for that local horse-crazed friend to appear for a really long, time (as in years and years). Well, several months ago I finally got an answer. Idiot-friendly, even! I was floored. It came about from a completely unexpected direction too; interpreting. Once a month, I try to go to "Deaf Church" with DD. It's mostly the deaf adults we've known since DD was diagnosed with a hearing loss (forever and a day ago), though there are sometimes students from an area ITP (Interpreter Training Program), as well as visiting deaf from other areas. Anyway, one Sunday an ITP student introduced herself as Kimby and asked if I would be willing to tutor her. I told her I didn't tutor per se, but that I would be happy to help her practice her signing and invited her to come by the house sometime. [photo inset: The steeple on the sanctuary where we go for deaf church taken at daybreak. For some reason the sky came out blue and green (the blue I understood, but the green?). Pretty sure I had the camera on the wrong setting or something, but I loved it. The white streak in the top left is a jet, but it looks almost like a shooting star - isn't that crazy?]

Not long after that, Kimby took me up on my offer to practice her signing and came by the house. She even shadowed me at work for one of her classes. You know how sometimes you meet someone and you just "click"? We seemed to hit it off right away, and we chatted about everything under the sun whenever she dropped by. At some point, the subject of horses came up and she visibly brightened. I asked her if she would like to see them, and she jumped up right away. Note: If you're not a horse person or you're a person who "likes" horses, this may sound a little out there (weird, even) - BUT - if you truly are horse crazy, it will make perfect sense. As we headed out the back through what I call the "Tacky" room, Kimby suddenly stopped and grabbed Champ's hackamore. "I'm sorry, but I just really need to do this." She closed her eyes and took a BIG whiff of horse. And there it was. The answer to my longstanding prayer; my new [local] horse-crazy friend. I just stood there, mouth hanging open, staring at her. I guess she thought I was freaked out by her behavior (and hello? Not even a little ;o) because she blushed and apologized right away - but that wasn't it at ALL. I just could not believe how clearly that dusty old prayer of mine had been answered and completely out of the blue, too (for me, anyway - God knew all along. *laugh*). He is so good; and it was a good worth waiting for! Turned out that she had even owned a horse growing up; and missed just being around them terribly (hence her need for a "fix" in the tacky room). Boy, when You answer, You really answer Lord! [photo inset: Our tacky wall, with Champ's hackamore hanging on the far left]

Not only did I make one fantastic new friend, Kimby came with three rambunctious and totally terrific boys that are a blast and a half to be around. They are definitely a credit to her (and husband too!). What continuously surprises me is that she doesn't seem to notice anything remarkable at all about herself (so see me just remark on it for you there, chickie ;o) She is my twin in many ways; a love of horses (obviously), strong faith in God and strong sense of family, and a really wicked sense of humor. Pretty sure we have a hefty handful of matching neuroses as well because hey, nobody's perfect, right? *grin*  In others, we are complete opposites: she is soft spoken (I'm kind of loud), unbelievably generous (though I'm not too terrible, there), calm no matter the crisis (so sayeth the Queen of Spaz), thoughtful with her speech (I eat my own foot all the time), and she may well be the most gracious person I've ever met. I marvel at the things she gets done in a day; she attends college online, makes and bakes all kinds of natural/organic goodies, cares for critters, home schools all three boys, takes care of her husband, keeps tabs on her mother and extended family, and does a boatload of other things for people she meets along the way. Do you have new friends you are thankful for? What about the "old" ones? Do they know how much you appreciate them? Are you sure? Maybe you should tell them...I bet they'd appreciate it. Sandy, if you're reading this...I love you too-too! *laugh* [Photo inset: Kimby's three boys and Bella modeling their supercool matching sunglasses]

Did I mention she's always calm? Always. No matter what the current chaos, e.g. bickering boys or an overflowing call-her-crazy schedule, she is one of those people who simply exudes calm. It's like having a walking diffuser with you; all that peace and serenity. Me? Ha. Ha. I'd be half bald, with the kids dressed in head-to-toe duct tape and stapled to the furniture, and the husband stuffed in a closet before the end of the very first day. *laugh* If she weren't younger than me, I would say I want to be her when I grow up (and maybe I should say that). I know she's rolling her eyes at this post (caught'cha!) but genuine friendships are such a rare and precious find; I am just too doggone happy to be able to add one more to my life to keep it to myself, so there. [Photo inset: Kimby hiding behind Rina: She's also just a little bit camera shy.] Well...maybe more than a little. I'm right there with ya on that one too, sistafriend! ;o)

You know what? Call me cautiously optimistic, but I do believe the Lord may have simultaneously answered another longstanding prayer: One for some pint-sized volunteers. Somehow, I think they'll fit in around here just fine, don't you? Though now that I think about it I might have a teensy bit of trouble with a certain silly pair, there (I'm talking about those two on the right side... Clyde *laugh*).

I'm currently pulling my hair out working on our website, which has been horribly neglected due to our internet woes (this post). Okay, maybe I'm doing that figuratively not literally, as it has finally started growing back in after I'd lost almost half of it (and thank you, thyroid). Naturally, the design software has completely changed since the last time I worked on the site *blowing raspberry at screen* and, just to add a bit more insult to my injury, I cannot access the existing site to make changes; I have to start completely from scratch. I can't even add a note to the site that's up now to say I'm working on it (so I'm sticking it in here). This has resulted in an extremely tedious game of copy and paste. Meh :oP After giving it considerable thought, I have opted to pull some of my Squidoo lenses (who sold out to Hub Pages) and pull them back to our site. Particularly my Body Language 101 page, which is where my heart lies (horse-wise), and was a humongous labor of love. Hub Pages just isn't the same sense of community as Squidoo (with whom we were a partner charity). It's just too commercial for me, so I'll be relocating most of my work from there to our site.  Anyhoo...with temps in the upper 90's outside and the heat index hovering around 105-109 (it's JUNE, and are you kidding me??) I figured now was as good a time as any, you know? I've still got to finish the pages on here, too.... *head thuds on desk*
[photo inset: A screenshot of our shiny new homepage - it's the only page completely finished thus far. One down, 2,384 cut and pastes to go....]

MAN, this post is really long (profound apologies to all!) - and no, I'm not dying or anything so dramatic. *laugh* Just thought I'd take time to actually share my happy thoughts "out loud", instead of keeping them to myself. Who knows? Maybe it will put a smile in place of someone's sad, or it could even inspire somebody else to blog about their friends and how much they are appreciated (it might even be you!) I'll just bet you've got someone somewhere in your life who could use an appreciative word - or ten - right? ;o)

This Week's Random Moment: Is it just me, or have [the newer] T-shirts hit an all-time low both top and bottom? Judging by the one I picked up (and subsequently dropped) earlier this week, it'll not only take me two days to get it all tucked in (down around my knees, thank you very much); I'm scared I'll have random strangers pelting me with Mardi Gras beads.... *facepalm*

Thank you for reading so [very, VERY] far this time, and have a blessed week!

"T" is for two...

Sunday, March 11, 2012

...and T is for trouble (and let's just make that a capital T, shall we?) I had a nice little visit with my friend Sandy the other day on the way home from my workshop. Somewhere amid all of our catch-up chatter, she mentioned that she was in the process of leasing a booth at an area antique mall. Well you know how much I love poking around piles of stuff: "Oh, how FUN!" *bounce*bounce*bounce* "Can we go see it now now now?". We shot out the door like we were going to a fire - which we were - though I did pause long enough to fling a "Right back" at DH over my shoulder *grin*. How exciting! Do you like those sprawling Antique places? I love them! Of course Sandy asked me if I had anything that I might want to sell in said booth (a question that I found hysterically funny considering the jam-packed storage state of our guest bedroom; although she didn't know that). That's Lucy, by the way. Is she not the cutest little thing? She's Sandy's inside dog and comes complete with her very own "I did it" face and an impressive - albeit terrierfying - wingspan (okay, that was bad sorry ;o)
So now I'm spray-painting an old book rack for my cards and wondering if I've lost my tiny mind. Of course you can't lose what you don't have, now can you. *laugh* Have you ever tried painting anything made of wire? Whatta pain. Of course it's black and I wanted it white (just to keep it challenging, you see). I decided to use Epoxy Appliance Paint, because it was the best finish and the most durable. Unfortunately, it didn't occur to me to read the directions until after I'd already started. Duhhhh. Re-coat within 30 minutes or wait one week. A week? Seriously? That meant I was still spraying and respraying as it was getting dark trying to hurry and finish (hence the lousy lighting in the photo). It also means that a) I went through nearly two cans of paint trying to cover all that blasted black; and b) I have an actual blister on the tip of my index finger (and are you kidding me? *rolls eyes*) I thought about one of those handle attachments, but nixed the idea because they always clog up quickly and make a mess.
So. Now we wait a week.... I hate waiting...*sigh*
We had an Elwood sighting at suppertime this week (Taya spotted him first). Wanna know the best part? Harvey was there too AND I managed to get a shot of those two capricious conies in the same frame (love those alliterations ;o) Grant you, they're sitting at opposite ends of the frame but I don't care. They are never right together; I'm thinking that's probably instinctive (preservation of the species, don'tcha know). For those of you new around here; Harvey and Elwood are two little wild wabbits (hee) that live just up the hill behind our house. For the longest time I thought I was losing it, because I didn't realize there were two. How could one bunny get from point A to point B like he did? Beam me up Scotty? I'd dubbed him Harvey (after Jimmy Stewart's invisible pal) as I almost never saw him until I'd all but stepped on him, and then WHOOSH he'd be 50 feet away and then suddenly pop up again somewhere else altogether. Anyway, the lighting is not so hot (getting dark). But now that the time's changed, we can have lots more for our picture taking day. Yay!
Guess this is why I never can sneak up on those two...and move over Lucy - 'cause wow. Kinda lends new meaning the the phrase, "I'm all ears", doesn't it? Hahaha *snort*
Elwood opted to lounge around the demonstration area for a bit:
Harvey hopped up the hill a ways to enjoy some yummy grass:
I tried to catch him with his mouth full, but that stuff sure did disappear in a hurry!
A sudden clunk followed by a thud behind me was the end of the cute bunny photo shoot. Seems Bella was sick and tired of my excited exclamations over a pair of silly rabbits and decided to prove her superiority by rehanging her bucket on the top slat all by herself.
Maybe it's just my imagination, but she appears to be just a tad exasperated with me. Wouldn't you say? Here's a sky shot (one more step to the left and it would have been perfect ;o)
Kinda neat though, eh? Looks like the sun, but it's actually the moon over my neighbor's trees. At least now you can see by the lavender color of the sky why everything was blue in the previous photos. As always, thank you so much for reading this far and have a blessed week everyone!

Tally Ho! We're off to the Expo...

Monday, January 30, 2012

The Alabama Horse Council's Equine Expo that is. I met my friend Sandy there. Do you remember her? (She's here and here). Told you I was going to phone a friend. *grin* Can't get much better than horse AND friend therapy combined, right? The only thing missing was the spending money (it's a 7 week stretch between paydays this time - and youch!) Didn't know we were going until the last minute either, otherwise I would have saved some of my Christmas money (well, maybe ;o) I had a ball hanging out with Sandy - always do - and thoroughly enjoyed wandering around looking at all the vendors (DH and his wallet stayed to watch the clinic - the coward). A couple of the clinicians looked interesting but the sound system was terrible and they were very hard to understand. Too bad it wasn't closed captioned. HaHa.
Want to see? I should warn you that it was dark and yellowy (is that even a word?) in there, so the photos are not so hot. Anyhoo, here are a few of the wonderful things I saw and [mentally] salivated over. I immediately thought of Catherine when I saw all the gorgeous tooled purses. The booth owner, Ms. Clydette, gave me her email address in case I rob a bank find some extra money, or if any of you want to ask her about them. Just shoot me an email and I'll be glad to share it with you (unfortunately, she doesn't have a website but she said to just email her ;o)
I don't normally care about such things, but ooooh I wanted one of these purses! Love the burgundy one in the middle below. *sigh* Oh well, maybe next year...
Took the picture below for my friend Lori who [wisely] does the socks only in the house thing:
Then there was the metalworks lady who had this really cool - really big - welded peacock in front of her booth; isn't that neat?
She does have a website (her name is Sonya, and her site is here). I liked this trio of running horses too; it would look so cool on our patio! Rats ;o)
There was quite a bit of overpriced tack, along with a selection of faux hides (a giraffe? seriously?) You know now that I think about it, our living room sofa could use some new upholstery... Not.
But my favorite booth had to be....the jewelry by Engrave This. They don't have a website, but they are on Facebook (here). Everything was sooooo pretty! And look! She even has Arabians! Oh-Oh-Oh, be still my heart! I could have cried. I stood there ogling; bemoaning my December birthday and wondering if 12 months in advance was a bit too much for an early present. *laugh* I spent the next hour mentally working out an emergency script designed to cajole DH in to springing for an Arabian horse charm. For those of you new to this blog, I can only tell you that DH is so tight he squeaks ('nuff said ;o)
I must have looked more pitiful than I thought, as Sandy vanished mysteriously from the ladies room when we ducked in there that afternoon. Sure scared me; those automatic flushers always struck me as being a tad on the dangerous side with their violent vortexes. She'd gone back to the booth for the round charm at the top of the picture above (the sneaky little heifer).  I wasn't expecting that (I was still busy fine tuning my script for DH ;o) Wasn't that a lovely thing to do? Now to figure out what I want to do with it; a pendant necklace I think. Here's what I ended up with - I threaded it through some sheer satin ribbon and wore it long - what do you think?
And look! It's a perfect match for my fabulous copper swirls from Meghann at Little Studio Jewels. She has a beautiful silver pair listed in her shop now (right here). I had a little trouble photographing them though; they swing ;o)
I think I'll wait and tell you about the clinicians next week - I'm out of time (can you imagine? *grin*). Have a big hug and a blessed week everyone!

Part 2: A blast from the past and the answer to our mystery from history...

Saturday, March 26, 2011

It must have been spring cleaning time at the barn, because it wasn't just Sampson and Jackie who were washing up the day we visited (see this post if you missed it). Sandy also raises rabbits, and what I found fascinating was that she said the bunnies roamed loose around the barn. She told me she started out keeping them in hutches, but they kept getting sick and just looked miserable. Somewhere along the line, she got a wild hare (I'm sorry; I just had to do it *grin*) and decided to try turning them out. Everyone's health improved dramatically and they are quite content to stay around the yard; isn't that cool? Needless to say, there are bunnies everywhere. She does sell some as pets - pretty sure she'd be up to her eyeballs in them if she didn't (isn't he just adorable?) Love that floppy little ear ;o) Here's a picture of another bunny who was hanging out inside the barn with Fiona and one of the hens:
Chickens, on the other hand, are not into bunny-style bathing. Nope, they take dirt baths  (really). Has something to do with debugging themselves or some such thing. These chickens are called Dominiques or Domineckers (depending on the vernacular). Seems their official name is Dominique, but like a lot of other words has slowly morphed into something slightly different than where it started :o) In any case, I thought they were kinda cool looking with the hens more black than white and the rooster more white than black. Put 'em together and you have yourself a super-sized pair of salt-n-pepper shakers *laugh*. Mrs. D. scratched a shallow pit in the barn floor, then proceeded to flip herself around in it (and lemme tell you, she sure was fast!) I did notice that the dirt and dust didn't really seem to stick to her; too bad the horses can't do that (ha). Here's a photo of Mr. D. for you:
Of course I loved the little Bantams too; they look like little toy chickens (kind of like going from black-n-white to technicolor, isn't it? ;o) This particular Bantam is called a "BB Red". Isn't he pretty? Oh excuse me SIR, handsome.
Speaking of color, isn't this interesting? These different-colored eggs belong to a pair of Muscovy Ducks (although I'm wondering if that little tiny one in there could be a stowaway - he's quite a bit smaller than the others, don't you think?) Mom and Dad [photo below] apparently decided to go out for a bit of a stroll (guess they figured the kids were old enough to stay by themselves without a babysitter; either that or Fiona was keeping an eye on things while they were out).
The weird brown shapes infringing upon the photo below [left side] are part of a saddle and stirrup leather on Freckles, the horse I was riding. Disclaimer from Sandy: "I did NOT name these horses, they came with lame names but I didn't think it was fair to change it when they already knew their names". I try to adhere to this policy as well, that's why we have a "Lady", a "Champ" and a "Shadow". The only one I have changed, was Maximus, a.k.a. [Mad] Max and that's because he came with the seriously lame name of Bumper, and are you kidding me?? (I mean honestly. It rhymes with "Thumper" the bunny whose best friend was a skunk named "Flower" that...Ugh. Well, nevermind). We'll just say that as our token Quarter Horse, he would never have been able to hold his head up around his herd mates with that name - quite mortifying really ;o)

We didn't do much riding, just some leisurely laps in the round pen before wandering about the yard a bit. I debated whether or not to post any pictures of us, as we are sans headgear (making us not very good role models) and there IS a war going on over the use of helmets. Maybe I won't get blasted out of the blogosphere *wince*. Hopefully, between now and the next time I go back for an actual trail ride I'll be able to get my hands on a decent helmet that actually fits, doesn't weigh a million pounds, and won't cause a heat stroke during the summer in the South (oh, and doesn't cost a fortune either...Yeesh, anything else? ;o)
We stopped to smile at the little bunnies in the hutch that would soon be going to new homes. DD announced that if she goes trail riding with us, it needed to be on something a little bigger than what she got this time (as the smallest and lightest of us, she got pony detail. Rosie was an awesome pony though. If I were six inches shorter I would have ridden her myself).
I've never seen a two-toned bunny rabbit before. Isn't he neat looking? Milk chocolate AND special dark all in one; perfect for an Easter basket *grin*.

Speaking of bunnies, would you believe that's what our mystery photo was? They were less than 24 hours old, and covered up by Mom for protection and warmth. Sandy carefully moved the fur so I could see them. They are so tiny - not to mention all pink. If she had not told me they were rabbits, I would have assumed some sort of rodent (they're blind and bald to boot - wow). I shot a short video clip for you and although it was very dark in the stall where they were, I really did not want to turn on the flash. That's what the green blip is in the video; my camera asking for more light (I said nope, sorry).
It's kind of grainy, but I think you can see them well enough. I was fascinated by the way their wiggling and popping around had such purpose (if you watch carefully, you'll notice that they basically covered themselves right back up). I sort of slapped together a few photos with the clip (shall we call it a bunny blip?) Here you go...Annoying music is optional (hadn't heard Little Bunny Foo-Foo in years *giggle* ;o)

Bunny Blips from Jen on Vimeo.

I'd have to say though, this last little bunny cracked me up; the other rabbits were a little squiggly, but not too bad. This little gal, however, was having none of it. She planted her paws and squealed in righteous indignation at Sandy to put her down RIGHT NOW! This bunch was older (about three weeks I think) and hopping and popping all over one of the other stalls in the barn. Not my best shot, certainly, but don't you just love that furry little face and the teeny tiny teeth? (even if she is seriously peeved ;o)
Have a wonderful weekend everyone!
