  1. I am sorry for your loss. Even though He has not personally revealed anything about it to me, be assured that I hope that she will be waiting for you in our Heavenly Father's Kingdom of Heaven, and the same applies to all of our beloved pets--not to mention more animals of all kinds than we can even start to naturally comprehend.

  2. Aw Jen I'm so sorry. All of the creatures that we let into our lives are more than pets. They are companions and family members. They touch our lives in so many ways and their passing is a true loss. May her hoof steps gently dance in your heart forever

  3. FishHawk: Thank you for your kind words. Retta's younger years [I'm fairly sure] were pretty rough. It's nice to know, however, that she had several happy golden years here with us.
Ann: Thank you; that's a lovely sentiment. We will definitely miss her bumbling around out there in the pasture; especially the hay pile, which was her favorite place to be :o)

  4. So sorry for this sad news and for your loss. She lived a long time and I am sure had some really great years living there with you Jen. She sure looks happy at the hay pile. But she is now galloping around in horse heaven all happy and young again. We know she will be missed. Lots of good thoughts coming your way.

  7. Jen, I'm so sorry. I know how much you love all those horses, this must be very hard for you. Here on Earth, loss is a part of life, but all our animal friends are with us always.

  9. Thank you all so very, very much! I am a little sad, but not too upset in that I know she enjoyed her senior years here with us. I do, however, feel very badly for her pasture pals. Poor Shadow called for her all day yesterday and Max was still trying to find her this morning; that's the hardest part for me.

We had some friends from church here today, and they all thought Shadow was the most beautiful horse they'd ever seen. It was the perfect thing for him (he loves to have visitors; especially the ones who can see how handsome he obviously is :o)

  10. Oh Jen, I'm so sorry, I had no idea. I am sure she is smiling (as well as horses can with their lips) and thanking you for the best years of her life spent with you. Thank you for giving her a safe and loving home. I am so sorry to hear the other horses are taking it hard. That is always the hardest part for me too - I know they can't understand that it was for the best. Lots of attention and treats will help, I'm sure Shadow will LOVE that!
Hugs and prayers to you and the horses,
    Meg

  12. I grew up raising horses in Idaho. I know how heart breaking the loss of a loved pet can be so I am truly sorry for your loss of Retta. It must be heartwarming though to remember those interesting and bonding moments you had with her and comforting that you have yet again did your part in helping take care of one of gods creatures that god saw fit to entrust you with. ;o)
